Pithoragarh: The search operation for a woman, who went missing after the landslide at Dharchula tehsil of Pithoragarh district, is underway. The woman identified as Nar Singh (32) got trapped under landslide debris while going to her workplace yesterday.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team, which reached the accident spot while walking three kilometres, is conducting the search operation by using all the necessary equipment to locate the woman.
Earlier on Sunday, Badrinath National Highway 07 was blocked after a landslide occurred near Gauchar in Chamoli district. The incident created a hindrance for those commuting from the area. So far, no injuries have been reported due to the incident.
The intermittent rains had put lives of locals in danger as the Badrinath highway has been closed due to debris falling from the mountains.
Heavy rains in several parts of Uttarakhand had disrupted the normal life of people as water levels of the rivers have increased and landslides have occurred on a regular basis.

On Aug 10, a cloudburst had occurred in Rudraprayag due to which houses were inundated with debris and boulders obstructed roads. The connecting bridge of Gorpa-Sirwadi was also damaged, affecting the movement of people and rescue workers.
Previously, in 1986 too, the village witnessed a cloudburst that had claimed 17 lives and affected more than 100.
