Roorkee: Uttarakhand Police have set up an inquiry over MLA Avtar Singh Bhadana from Uttar Pradesh's Meerapur constituency on Wednesday for allegedly flying a drone in the restricted area.
MLA Singh has allegedly violated a new drone rule - released by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) on Thursday, 26 August - while filming his visit to Dargah Hazrat Sabir e Pak Piran Kaliyar Shareef in Uttarakhand.
The footfalls of the pilgrims have started reaching Piran Kaliyar following the annual urs of Hazrat Makhdoom Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir Pak. Likewise, MLA Avtar Singh also reached the Piran Kaliyar and used a drone to capture the entrance of the pilgrimage site.
When the MLA was asked about the incident, he said, "I have no idea about the rules and regulation of the uses of drone,"
Taking the incident seriously SSP Haridwar Dr. Yogendra Singh Rawat said the investigation is underway, if MLA is found to be guilty, appropriate action will be taken.
"We have to check where the drone was flown. According to new rules, there are 3 categories A, B, C to fly drones. Drones are not allowed in category A. It is necessary to take permission to fly a drone in the B category and the drone can be flown in the C category without permission. If there has been a violation appropriate action will be initiated," SSP said.
