Sources said that the Defence Minister left for Joshimath from Doiwala. During his visit to the state, the Defence Minister met the top officials of the Border Roads Organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Defence Minister said that it was a proud moment to inaugurate the projects. Rajnath said that BRO's work for the last some years has been commendable adding a record 125 projects were completed in 2023. As Defence Minister, I got an opportunity to work closely with the BRO. “I got to inaugurate many projects. Inaugurating projects a proud moment not just for me, but for all the entire country,” he said.

BRO's work reflects the organisation's dedication. Each state irrespective of the ruling party has been extending full support to the BRO in border infrastructure development, but the popular CM of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami has worked tirelessly with the BRO for which I express gratitude to him. I pray that the way the development works under his leadership, have attained new heights, is carried on,” he said.

The Defence Minister said that the border infrastructure works by the BRO have not just helped better connectivity but also connected hearts. “Today border residents feel connected to the entire country, BRO has a big role in it,” he added. The Defence Minister is scheduled to inaugurate 35 infrastructure projects worth Rs 670 crore built by the BRO including the Dhak Bridge. BRO has already completed the preparations regarding the Defence Minister's visit. The district administration and police administration have made elaborate security arrangements in view of this important visit of the Defense Minister.

SP Chamoli Rekha Yadav is present at ground zero regarding security arrangements. In Dhak, concrete arrangements have been made for all the medical related arrangements including drinking water, electricity and police personnel have been deployed at every nook and corner. The bridge at Dhak Gadere, about 13 km ahead of Joshimath on Joshimath Malari Border Highway near Indo-Tibetan border has been completed by the BRO.

The bridge had been long overdue due to the dilapidated condition of the old bridge connecting the Malari Niti border. Therefore, BRO has demonstrated its efficiency by constructing a new bridge on the highway here within the stipulated time and facilitating transportation of vehicles and machines laden with large and heavy goods up to the Indo-Tibet border and the seasonal migratory tribal villages.

The BRO has prepared a steel girder bridge in Dhak drain on the Joshimath-Malari highway connecting the India-China border in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Now, with the commencement of movement on the bridge, the movement of villagers of the frontier Malari Neeti valley area along with the Indian Army and ITBP personnel to the border outposts and borders will become easier.
