Dehradun: Due to rising COVID cases in the country, Gurdwara Sri Hem Kunt Sahib Management Trust on Sunday postponed Hem Kund Sahib Yatra which was to start from May 10 this year.
Noting the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country, the management announced its decision through a press statement.
The next date for the pilgrimage has not been decided and as and when it is done, the Trust will inform the Sangat, the press release read.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Narendrajit Singh Bindra, vice-chairman of Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, said that last year, the yatra was delayed by three months due to the pandemic.
Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara is located at an altitude of 4,329 metres in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
This pilgrimage place is dedicated to the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (1666-1708), and also finds its mention in Dasam Grant, a work dedicated to Guru Ji himself.
