PM Modi reviews development work at Kedarnath Dham

For the second time in a period of 35 days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually reviewed the reconstruction project and development work at Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand. He held discussion with CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar focussing on facilities for devotees.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing development work at Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand through video conferencing with a focus on facilities for travellers.

This is the second time in 35 days that the Prime Minister had taken stock of the progress of the development work at the holy shrine.

Before holding discussions he virtually sought the blessings from Lord Kedar and prayed for the betterment of the entire world during the challenging times of coronavirus pandemic.

The virtual meet was also attended by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar.

The discussions centred around furthering the divinity of Kedarnath temple and Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya's 'Samadhi Sthal', maintaining cleanliness and ensuring extensive development, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

The review also focussed on ensuring that travellers get all facilities on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath route and arrangements to be made to showcase the historical and cultural significance of the pilgrimage using technology.

During the virtual meeting, Uttarakhand government officials also gave a presentation to brief PM Modi over the museum to be built in Kedarnath.

Apart from this PM Modi also gave many suggestions regarding Chardham Yatra.

Speaking with reporters, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar informed that the construction of Saraswati river ghat and Aastha path has been completed before the deadline ended. He also informed that the pending construction works in Kedarnath Dham will be completed by September as the administration is facing an acute shortage of labour amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
