Kashipur (Uttarakhand): Police on Tuesday night arrested a Pakistani woman who illegally entered India by crossing Indo-Nepal border in 2019.
The arrested person has been identified as Farida Begum.
According to the police, the woman had a clash with a young man at Kashipur bus stand. On being informed by the locals, the police rushed to the spot and subsequently questioned the woman.
On being interrogated, the woman revealed that she belongs to Pakistan and after entering India, she settled in Uttarakhand's Kashipur by obtaining fake identity documents with the help of local people.
"Even before this, Farida has been arrested in Champawat in the year 2019. She told us that she lives in America but she had a plan to get Indian citizenship. We have seized the fake passport and sent her to the judicial custody. Further investigation is on," a police official said.
