Pauri(Uttarakhand): Mushroom cultivators in Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal district have been incurring huge loss following a downfall in its production due to prolonged winter-like condition.
"Last year I had produced almost 12 quintals of mushroom, but this year till June the production stood at a mere three quintals and the annual production is unlikely to cross six quintals. A prolonged winter is a reason behind the reduced production," said Vipin Rawat, a mushroom cultivator from the Pauri.
"We can't even afford the transportation cost," he added.
Mushroom cultivators in the hill district have been demanding government intervention in ensuring that the losses incurred by them are covered by a scheme meant for them.
