Pauri (Uttarakhand): As a part of his ongoing election campaign, Manish Khanduri, son of former Chief Minister B. C. Khanduri, reached the village of his maternal grandmother to reestablish a connect with his roots and offer prayers at the renowned Danda Nagraja temple in Nayal Gaon.
Manish Khanduri, who had recently joined the Indian National Congress, will be contesting the elections from Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency and had later visited Kot Kaljikhal village and Kot block.
Khanduri further stated that people were quite supportive of the Congress party and had expressed their views with enthusiasm.
While talking to the media, Khanduri outlined on the government's indifference, which he opined, were visible in almost every sector. "The region has been devoid of development. Lack of teachers has driven more than 650 schools to closure, on the other hand, NIT was also shifted. Garhwal University does not have a Vice Chancellor, and these are one end of the many issues," he maintained.
He further claimed that,in many places, people were constantly struggling for basic amenities like water, roads, health, agriculture and education. "Over the past few years, no stringent measures have beentaken to fulfill these basic requirements," he added.
Khanduri asserted that all such issues would be rectified once Congress assumes power. Uttarakhand will go for Lok Sabha polls in the first phase on 11th April.
