Haridwar: Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley breathed his last on Saturday at AIIMS. The veteran politician had been undergoing treatment at the Cardiothoracic and Neurosciences Centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi for the last three weeks. The first time his cancer was identified was during his visit to Haridwar in 2017.
Jaitley visited Patanjali Yogpeeth on 12 March 2017 to meet Ramdev and visit his Food park. However, while returning to his helicopter, he got injured. While treating him, it was found that Jaitley was suffering from cancer.
Earlier, on September 2014, he underwent bariatric surgery to correct the weight he had gained because of a long-standing diabetic condition.
In May 2018, he underwent renal transplant surgery at AIIMS, Delhi, as he had been suffering from a kidney ailment and had been undergoing dialysis.
More recently, he also underwent treatment in the US in January this year.
