Pithoragarh: The international Suspension bridge in Dharchula was reopened for three hours for a mentally challenged person who needed to visit Bareilly hospital for emergency treatment on Thursday from 2 p.m to 5 pm.
Under the supervision of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the bridge was opened for 3 hours during which 138 people came to India from Nepal while 105 people crossed over to Nepal from India.
All these people had also put in an application along with the patient for the opening of the bridge.
With the opening of the bridge, Nepalese citizens thronged Dharchula for shopping. The full potential of the market was seen during this time, after which the traders demanded that the bridge be opened regularly by the government during the festive season.

The business of Dharchula market is entirely dependent on Nepali buyers but due to Corona induced closure of international suspension bridge for the last 7 months, the business has been severely affected.
After a large number of people applied for the bridge to be opened, both India and Nepal agreed to it.
