Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand): In view of the escalating border tensions with China and Nepal, Indian Army is keeping a tight vigil on the borders with these two countries. Dharchula tehsil of Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand, bordering China and Nepal, has been placed on high alert these days.
Top officials of the security forces reached Dharchula to take stock of the security preparations amid the rising tensions.
On June 21, officials of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal and army visited Lipulekh Pass, Kala pani and Nabhidhang to take stock of the security situation in the area.
Significantly, on the Nepal border, Sashastra Seema Bal has tightened security vigil by deploying its personnel in large numbers.
After the Galwan valley incident in which 20 Indian army soldiers were killed in a violent faceoff with China, ITBP and Indian Army have started a 24-hour vigil in Lipulekh Pass as well.

India-Nepal border has also been placed on high alert after Nepal cabinet endorsed a new political map showing Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura under its territory, amidst a border dispute with India.
The move announced by Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali came weeks after he said that efforts were on to resolve the border issue with India through diplomatic initiatives.
Although there is no movement of any kind on the India- Nepal and India-China border however, as a precautionary measure Indian security forces are vigilantly patrolling these border areas.
SDM Dharchula, Anil Kumar Shukla said that after the Galwan incident the number of security personnels in Dharchula, adjacent to China and Nepal, have been increased.
Also, strict monitoring and patrolling is being done at the borders. The SDM also said that there is an atmosphere of tension at the borders however, the situation is completely under control.
