Chamoli (Uttarakhand): Heavy rainfall in most parts of Uttarakhand has caused rivers and drains to swell and triggered landslides that have disrupted movement on the Badrinath National Highway (NH-7).
Cyclone Tauktae brought torrential rains to Uttarakhand pounding the region for two days. There has also been a drastic drop in temperature due to continuous rains.
The rains also lashed Chamoli district where a cargo truck in Lambagad has been hit by landslides. The administration has sent rescuers and police to the scene.
When the last report came in, four people were missing after a cloudburst in the state and rescue teams have been deployed.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted "heavy to very heavy" rainfall at isolated places of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts of the state. Gusty winds with a speed of 30-40 Kmph is also expected in isolated places in the plains of the state.
