Gupta brothers' convoy's entry in zero zone of Kumbh Mela raises objections

Industrialists Gupta brothers' convoy was permitted in the zero zones of Kumbh Mela despite Government's prior decision to not let any vehicle enter the zone. The administration furthermore also provided a police escort for the vehicles of the industrialists blatantly violating the rules that the state government framed.

Haridwar: Even though there were standing instructions by the Uttarakhand government to not permit any vehicle in the zero zones of Kumbh Mela, an apparent violation of the instructions has taken place right under the state government's watch.

Industrialists Gupta brothers were granted permission to use their fleet of cars to attend the Kumbh Mela. Gupta brothers' ten vehicles entered the zero zone even though only six vehicles were given permission.

The administration furthermore also provided a police escort for the vehicles of the industrialists blatantly violating the rules that the state government framed.

Two major hotels in Haridwar were also booked by the Gupta brothers for their stay and to attend religious ceremonies. A hotel at Ram Ghat has also been booked, while the family is staying in a hotel near Har Ki Pauri.

People objected to the partisan attitude shown by the administration. A person said that dozens of vehicles were seen heading towards the main market close to Harki Pauri while common people were even denied permission to use a scooter.
