Five family members of Uttarakhand Minister Satpal Maharaj discharged from AIIMS

Days after being admitted to AIIMS, Rishikesh on testing positive for COVID-19, five family members of Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj have been discharged. Out of the five, three are still positive, but asymptomatic, and will now undergo home quarantine.

Rishikesh (Uttarakhand): Five family members of Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, who had tested positive for COVID-19, have been discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Rishikesh.

According to Dr UB Mishra, the Dean of AIIMS Hospital Administration, the minister's two sons, their wives, and a grandson have been discharged.

While one of the minister's sons and grandson have now tested negative for COVID-19, the other son and both his daughters-in-law are positive for the virus but are asymptomatic, Mishra said.

The three will now undergo home quarantine.

Besides, a team of doctors will reportedly keep a constant check on the infected family.

Meanwhile, Maharaj, who is the state tourism minister and also a spiritual leader, is still undergoing treatment at AIIMS along with his wife Amrita Rawat, a former state minister.

It is to be noted that after Maharaj tested positive for the coronavirus, CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, along with entire state Cabinet, was placed under quarantine as per the guidelines of the Central Government.
