A day after the news was published by ETV Bharat about the brilliant student, leader Hansi Prahari of Uttarakhand, the government, administration and state opposition leaders have assured to help the woman.

Dehradun: A brilliant student, leader and a person who stood up for women rights, Uttarakhand's Hansi Prahari, is now forced to face life’s adversities. ETV Bharat's attempt to show Hansi’s story of struggles turned out to be successful.

When the news went viral, the government, administration and state opposition leader are all trying to bring this matter to light.

A day after the news was published by ETV Bharat, the ADM of Haridwar, Gopal Singh met Hansi. During their conversation, the ADM was astounded by flawless English of her.

On asking him further, Singh came to discover a well-educated and suave personality beneath the vagrant and haggardly exterior.

Meanwhile, Hansi has been reassured by the government that within 1-2 days, she will have a quarter near the BHL to reside in.

Expenses to be borne by the Uttarakhand government

The Uttarakhand government decided to meet Hansi and her family and told the Almoda DM, Nitin Bhadouria, to gather information about the case. Later, the Haridwar DM, C Ravishankar also met Hansi.

Taking cognizance of the case, Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik has assured that they are in contact with Hansi’s family and are trying to move them to live with Hansi too so that her health can be looked after. The government is planning to bear all costs till Hansi gets well.

"After getting this news, the government will get the beggars verified in Haridwar before the Kumbh Mela. The beggar house built in Haridwar will be renovated so that more and more beggars can live in it," Kaushik said.

At the same time, Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Premchand Aggarwal, has also assured to help Hansi by taking cognizance of the case.

Leader of Opposition, Indira Hridayesh, said, "A brilliant student of our state has been forced to survive by begging on the streets today, after losing all her hope, which is extremely sad. The state government should do something for her and we are also trying to help her."

Meanwhile, while speaking to ETV Bharat, Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta said," I have talked to many organizations to help Hansi and soon she will get the assistance. Hansi Prahari who has been shunting from the state secretariat to the Chief Minister's office for a long time with her degrees to get a suitable job now is begging. This is sad news for everyone. We will talk to the state government for providing her help so that she may find a job at the earliest and start her life again as before."

Prior to this, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, the Supreme President of Parmarth Niketan situated in Rishikesh, became emotional after first getting the information about the status of the Hansi Prahari while speaking on phone with ETV Bharat.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati said that he will keep Hansi in his ashram along with the responsibility of raising her child.

Private organizations also came forward to render support

Not only this, Hansi has been assured from the Inner Wheel Club that the responsibility of her child's education would be shouldered by them and if she wants to stay on rent, they are also ready to take the responsibility of rent every month. Club president Vinita Goyal said that her club will help the family as much as possible.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat said, "Afer getting the information about Hansi, I have sent some of our members to help her. They will also arrange some work for her that she will live happily. I am also appealing to our Chief Minister to help this poor lady."

Old friends also came forward to help

At the same time, after the news was published in ETV Bharat, friends who studied in Kumaon University with her are also contacting with Hansi. The next morning after seeing the news, her friend Shalini reached Nagerkoti to meet Hansi. The two sat talking for hours. Not only this, but Deputy Commissioner of Dehradun Bhuvan Pandey has also talked to Hansi over the phone. They said that they are able to talk and recollect the past memories. People wanting to give financial support to Hansi have also come forward. Gang Jyoti Sanstha of Haridwar has also financially helped Hansi.

Who is Hansi Prahari?

ETV Bharat had brought forth the tale of this woman before the people. The story of a woman who was once the pride of Kumaon University. She acquired double MA from Kumaon University, Hansi, was a student union vice president, and also worked as a librarian.

At the same time, after the turmoil in her married life in the year 2011, Hansi slipped in depression for some time and in the meantime, she also got inclined towards religion.

She thought of separating from the family to settle in Dharmanagri and reached Haridwar since then she has been living away from her family. She says that during this time, her physical condition also started getting deteriorated and she was not able to do a job anywhere.

Today, the situation is such that Hansi who is bright in studies is forced to beg for alms on the streets of Haridwar, railway stations, bus bases and Ganga Ghats along with her 6-year-old child.

Hansi is originally a resident of Rankhila village near Govindpur, which comes under Havalbag development block of Someshwar assembly constituency in Almora district of Uttarakhand.

In the year 2002, Hansi contested the election as an independent candidate from the Someshwar assembly seat against both the sitting MPs Pradeep Tamta and Ajay Tamta. Not only this, she had secured more than 2000 votes more than the current MP and former Union Minister Ajay Tamta.

Meanwhile, her friends and classmates that include the former Union Minister Pradeep Tamta and other high-ranking people have ensured that she will get the best treatment and will recover as soon as possible.
