Doon-based artist makes miniature painting for Jammu airport

Anshu Mohan, a resident of the Mathurawala area of Dehradun, has made a miniature painting based on the Rasamanjari series which will be displayed at the Jammu airport. The artwork is a part of the 15th century Sanskrit classic Rasamanjari series.

Dehradun: A painting artist from Dehradun has made a 50-meter long miniature painting that will be displayed at the Jammu airport.

The artwork is a part of the 15th century Sanskrit classic Rasamanjari series. Rasamanjari is a work by the known Sanskrit poet Bhanudatta. The painting is related to a school in Jammu and Kashmir known as Basholi.

Anshu Mohan, a resident of the Mathurawala area of Dehradun is an expert in Pahadi miniature painting style.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, the painter Anshu Mohan said: "It took me around two months to complete this project. I started painting on December 19. I have used canvas and acrylic colours for this painting. I have been doing painting since my childhood."

He was assigned the work of making a 25 and 23 feet painting by an organisation.

Earlier, Mohan has done various projects for the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Bharat Bhavan and Kangra Museum.

Expressing his concern towards the cultural painting, Mohan said: "Central government and state government should work together to promote miniature painting. Everyone is reading about 'fine arts' but it is not being practically practiced by the upcoming generations."
