New Delhi: Realising near-death experiences can be terrifying, a 36-year-old man hailing from Uttarakhand's Dehradun turned into an animal saviour after being diagnosed with mouth cancer a few years back.
Ravi Joshi, who is currently inducted into Uttarakhand forest department's rescue team says he finds peace in rescuing wild animals and giving them another life.
Realising the power of love and care while undergoing treatment for cancer, he decided to impart the same to the wild animals, who are devoid of it.
Recalling his love for animals and attributing it to the forest department, he said," No matter what time of the day it is, I am always ready to rescue wild animals. After joining the Uttarakhand forest department, when I closely witnessed these creatures I became more attached to them. My connection with animals grew stronger after I got involved in the business."
Ravi, who is currently admitted at a hospital in Mumbai to undergo chemotherapy has rescued around 413 snakes, 35 pythons, 4 leopards, 17 monkeys, 19 eagles, and 40 other birds in the last one year.
"Animals feel pain like we do and we should always be sensitive toward them," said Ravi, who is battling with the deadly disease.
He goes on to speak that animals do not cause harm until provoked.
"We should realise the importance of life and educate the world towards the menace of cancer," said Ravi, while sending out a message on the occasion of World cancer day.
