Baba Kedar reaches his winter abode, will be worshipped at the Omkareshwar temple for the next 6 months.

Baba Kedar doli reaches Omkareshwar temple

Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand): Lord Kedarnath reached Omkareshwar temple on Thursday which will be his winter abode for the next six months now. The devotees will be able to pay their obeisance to Lord Kedarnath at his winter abode in Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath.

After the closing of the portals of Kedarnath temple on 29 October, the Utsav Doli of baba Kedar reached Rampur its first stop for the journey.

On Wednesday, the Doli reached its second stop, Vishwanath temple at Guptkashi.

On Thursday, at 8 am in the morning the priest offered Bhog to the Panchmukhi Bhogmurti of Lord Kedar. After this, the Utsav Doli left for its final destination.

Baba Kedar reaches his winter abode Ukhimath Omkareshwar temple.

During the entire route, hundreds of devotees were walking alongside the Doli. The whole atmosphere was immersed in chants of the devotees and mangal tunes played by the army band of Jammu and Kashmir infantry battalion.

The Doli reached Jaibari at 10:45 am after crossing Bahinsari, Vidyapeeth and Jaibri.

The Doli was welcomed by locals at 11:45 am when it reached the Omkareshwar temple.

After doing parikrama of the main temple the Doli was taken inside.

The priest placed the Panchmukhi Bhogmurti in the inner sanctum amidst the chant of prayers and mantras. For the next 6 months, this temple will be the home of Lord Kedar and the devotees will offer their prayers here only.

Before the Doli was brought to the temple, the local administration and the temple committee removed several copper plates from the temple.

Interestingly, the district administration on Wednesday removed Tamra Patra (copper plates) from the Omkareshwar temple as it had triggered a controversy and a protest by the chief priest of Kedarnath temple.

This was done in the presence of SDM Arvind Yadav and the Rawal of Kedarnath temple. After this was done the priest of the temple was pacified and the rituals were performed as scheduled.
