Vehicles of security forces stuck on Tawaghat-Lipulekh route due to debris

The continuing heavy rainfall in the areas of Lamari, Bundi and Chiyalekh up to the Lipulekh border in last few days, a large number of loaded trucks and vehicles of the Indian Army were stranded here. Meanwhile, the stranded vehicles were recovered and organised to return.

Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand): Due to heavy rain on the Tawaghat-Lipulekh road connecting China border, a lot of debris has accumulated these days. As the condition of this road has become very bad, Army vehicles got stranded near Malpa-Chiyalekh road.

According to sources, the continuing heavy rainfall in the areas of Lamari, Bundi and Chiyalekh up to the Lipulekh border in last few days, a large number of loaded trucks and vehicles of the Indian Army were stranded here. At the same time, security forces personnel faced a lot of difficulties in getting vehicles out of the slush. However, the stranded vehicles were salvaged and they are returning back.

Notably, the cutting work on the road connecting the Lipulekh border has been completed recently. There is a mud route from Malpa to Chiyalekh Road. Due to heavy rainfall in Malpa, Lamari, Bundi and Chiyalekh, a huge amount of debris has accumulated on this road. Vehicles of local people including the army, ITBP, SSB were stuck for hours. The local people passing through this road are also facing a lot of problems.

Reportedly, permission for civil vehicles on this road is allowed only twice a week (Sunday to Monday) till noon. The rest of the days, vehicles of Army, ITBP and SSB can run. This is the road linking the China border, on which Nepal claims its borders ahead of Kalapani.
