Lucknow: All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) secretary Zafaryab Jilani is undergoing surgery at Medanta Hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow following a brain haemorrhage
Jilani, a former additional advocate general, slipped and fell on a floor wet from rains while coming out of his office in Jilani Islamia degree college, his son Nazam Zafaryab told reporters.

Jilani, who is above 70, fainted due to injuries in his head and was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
On Friday, doctors started operating on him after his condition worsened due to excess internal bleeding.

His Covid test has been done and the reports are awaited, Jilani's nephew Zia Jilani told reporters and appealed to people to pray for him.
He was the convener of the Babri Masjid Action Committee and is one of the biggest lawyers in the country.
