Aligarh: A young man was shot dead over a gambling dispute at Gobar Khunda locality in Sasni Gate police station area.
A group of youngsters clashed while betting late in the night.
Deceased's family pelted stones at the accused's house and tried to set a Scooty parked nearby on fire, however, the police reached the spot and pacified the family members.
Police have arrested an accused and the hunt is on for the other accused in the case.
Following a heated argument, the dispute between some youngsters escalated to such an extent that someone shot Shakti in the chest.
Shakti was rushed to the district Malkhan Singh Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
On being informed, police personnel of Sasni Gate and Dehli Gate police station reached the spot. The forensic team was called for evidence collection.
SSP Muniraj said that there was a fight between a group of youngsters and one among them died after being shot. An accused has been caught in connection with the incident, the officer said.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
Police officials have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
