Will self-immolate if justice not served: Balrampur victim's kin

The family members of the Balrampur woman who had died after allegedly being gang-raped, have threatened to burn down the accused's house and self-immolate if their daughter does not get speedy justice.

Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh): Expressing dissatisfaction over the police probe into the case, family members of the deceased woman from Balrampur, who had allegedly been gang-raped, said they would self-immolate if their daughter does not get speedy justice.

The family members accused the police of being lax towards the accused after arresting them, and said they were not getting the desired support from the local police.

The family members, including the victim's mother, threatened to burn down the accused's house and even self-immolate in public if their daughter does not get justice soon.

The family also claimed that the police have not arrested the other accused in the case, and were taking money to bury the case.

The SP said four accused have been arrested till now

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Dev Ranjan Verma said that multiple teams have been constituted which are investigating into the case at their level.

He added that while the police have arrested four persons till now, several other suspects are currently being questioned.

A woman from Balrampur had died on September 29 after she was allegedly gang-raped.

Talking to reporters in Balrampur on September 30, the victim's mother had claimed that the accused broke the legs and back of her daughter, a charge denied by police.

"My daughter had gone to take admission to a college on September 29. On her way back, she was abducted, given an injection and raped," she alleged.

"They later sent her back on an e-rickshaw, which dumped her outside our house. They broke her legs and back. She could not stand or talk," the victim's mother had said.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died on the way.

The victim was cremated on September 30 after the post-mortem in the presence of her family members, police had claimed.
