Ballia (Uttar Pradesh): In another example of laxity, Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday cut a sorry figure in front of their new recruits as they failed to fire tear gas during a mock drill in Ballia district. Over 100 police personnel took part in the training session when the incident took place.
The new police officials were being trained to operate tear gas shells in Ballia and the video of the incident went viral on social media.
The video shows that few police officials, during the mock drill, misfire tear gas shells using many cartridges in multiple attempts.
Many top police personnel including police chief were also present during the riot control rehearsal.
Reacting to the incident, Superintendent of Police said that the main motive behind conducting these mock drills is to train new candidates and make them learn as well as help the other personnel in recalling the techniques which they would have forgotten.
