Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the effort of a 9-year-old boy of Varanasi, who contributed to the PM-CARES Fund to fight COVID-19.
The student of standard five, named Samyak Ojha from Khojwa, Varanasi has donated his entire savings to the PM-CARES Fund.
The Prime Minister has written a letter to Samyak and applauded his kind act. PM Modi also called the child as a source of inspiration for all. The PM further added that the child's contribution to the fight against the novel Coronavirus will be remembered for a long time.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the ‘large-heartedness’ of the children who had decided to contribute in whatever way they can in helping the country fight this worrying crisis.
On April 11, the 9-year-old had donated his whole amount deposited in his piggy bank to the PM-CARES Fund for the fight against COVID-19. He had also posted a letter with the money to the Prime Minister's Delhi residence.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Samyak said," I got our Prime Minister's letter and I am very happy about that. The money I had collected in my piggy bank to buy a geared bicycle but seeing the gloom of the situation, I decided to give it to the PM-CARES Fund that my country will get some courage to fight against this pandemic. I am so happy that our PM Modi Ji has sent me a letter and appreciated my work. For this, I would like to say thank you very much."
"During the time of the global pandemic, the Prime Minister had come on TV and appealed to the people to help. At that time Samyak was listening carefully to the PM's speech. Suddenly he said that he will donate his all savings to the PM-CARES Fund. By parcel, Samyak sent his piggy bank to the Prime Minister's residence and requested to accept his contribution. The amount may be small but the intention is big," said, Uttam Ojha, father of Samyak.
"I would like to thank our Prime Minister that he applauded the efforts of this 9-year-old child. He sent us a thank you letter. It is certain that we will definitely win against the Coronavirus under the leadership of our Prime Minister," Uttam added.
