Varanasi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 69th birthday with great pomp throughout India.
PM's birthday is being celebrated with blood donation camps organised all across the country while a 69 kg cake made of laddoos was also cut during the celebrations.
On the third day of the 'Sewa Saptah' or the service week, a blood donation Mahakumbh was organised in the city during which, 555 people are said to have donated their blood.
The blood donation camp was organised at the ESI hospital in Pandeypur.
Cabinet Minister Ashutosh Tandon gave a start to the camp while independent leader Ravindra Jaiswal also attended the event.
People served the laddoo cake to a picture of PM Modi as a gesture of respect and celebrated his birthday.
Cabinet minister Tandon said on the occasion, "Our prime minister has always invested himself in the welfare of others. He is constantly serving the public through different schemes since he took oath as the PM"
Following his footsteps, his birthday is being celebrated as the Sewa Saptah.
