Varanasi: A non-bailable warrant has been issued against an alleged rape victim on the charges of fraud after she made allegations of sexual assault against Bahujan Samaj Party MP from Uttar Pradesh's Ghosi Atul Rai. The warrant was issued by the court of chief judicial magistrate Bharatendra Singh after hearing the application moved by Cantt Police on Monday under section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

According to reports, the application was moved by advocate Anuj Yadav and Advocate Vikas Singh on behalf of Pawan Kumar Singh, brother of Rai. The application stated that the victim is a fraudulent woman and also tried to implicate UP College student union president Amritesh Singh Sabbal in a fake case of molestation. Police said that at the time of filing the case against Atul Rai, she had submitted her high school mark sheet which mentioned 10 June 1997 as her date of birth.

"After scanning records, it was reported that the same victim filed a case of molestation against Sabbal in 2015 and submitted her high school mark sheet with another date of birth which indicated a possibility of fake documents and extortion," police said.

"Following this, on the orders of the court, Cantt police registered a case of cheating against the victim on 23 November 2020 under various sections," police added.

On Monday, the advocate of the MP gave an application in the court to summon a progress report from the police station after no arrest was made.
