Kannauj: Police in Uttar Pradesh arrested a man believed to be mentally unstable after he desecrated a place of worship in Kannauj district, according to reports.
The incident was reported in Chhibramau town and police were deployed to the area after local people staged a protest demanding action against the man.
Reports said worshippers overpowered the man and handed him to the police. After initial investigations, police said the man who was taken into custody was mentally unwell. Many police officers including SDM Devesh Gupta and Circle Officer Shiv Kumar Thapa visited the area and took stock of the situation. Police are also examining footage from security cameras in the area.
