Uttar Pradesh: Girl repeatedly gang-raped in Sambhal; three women among 7 arrested

The victim said that she was kidnapped by two of the accused men, who gangraped her along with two of their associates in Moradabad.

Sambhal: In a shocking case of sexual assault, a girl was allegedly gang-raped repeatedly for 20 days by four men after being kidnapped in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday. Police have arrested seven accused in the case including three women who aided the prime accused in the alleged sexual assault.

The arrests were made following a complaint by the victim at the concerned police station. In her complaint, the victim girl told police that on the morning of Sept 27, she was going to the house of her friend living in the neighborhood. While she was on her way, two youths riding a bike stopped her kidnapped her, the victim said.

The accused duo later intoxicated her and took her to a deserted place in Bahjoi area where they gang-raped her, the victim alleged in her complaint. Both the accused later took her to Moradabad, where they kept her hostage for 20 days and alonmg with two of their associates sexually assaulted her during the time period, she added.

According to the FIR, the four accused held the girl hostage for 20 consecutive days also assaulted the girl. The victim girl alleges that three other women were also involved in this incident, who aided the prime accused in keeping her hostage and her sexual assault. The girl said that after 20 days of torture and sexual assault, she somehow escaped from the clutches of the kidnappers and reached Sambhal where she lodged the police complaint, CO Jitendra Kumar said.

Following the police complaint, police swung into action and arrested the accused in the case, he added. He identified the prime accused as Arshad, Asim, Aashiq and Faiz Alam. Besides them, three women Soni, Saira and Zaiba have also arrested by the police, CO Jitendra Kumar said. The victim has been sent to the government hospital for medical treatment while further investigation is going on.
