UPSTF arrests 4 involved in publishing forged NCERT books

A Special Task Force of UP Police arrested four men in connection with a racket that illegally published forged NCERT books worth crores. All four men were arrested from Meerut.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has arrested four men in Meerut for publishing forged NCERT books, an official said on Sunday.

The accused, Shivam, Rahul, Sunil Kumar and Akash, all residents of Meerut, were held on Saturday, the UPSTF said in a statement.

Meanwhile the key figure behind the illegal copies - Sachin Gupta - is still on the run.

It said that it has recovered 8,90,439 forged NCERT books and printing machines worth 35 crore rupees. The books were duplicate copies of books printed by the government's National Council of Educational Research and Training.

The STF has also recovered nine computer CPUs and 123 bill books from the accused, it said.

A case has been registered at the Partapur police station in Meerut under various sections of the IPC and the Copyright Act, the STF said.

The printing facility and the warehouse where the books were kept have been sealed.
