Lucknow: As the public transport system opens up gradually amid lockdown, the UP-State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has drawn up an elaborate plan to ensure safety and security of the passengers as well as employees.
Raj Shekhar, Managing Director, UPSRTC has asked officials to make a video on safety protocols and circulate it among all the employees of the department.
As of now, on an average, around 2,000 buses are being used daily to transport migrant workers coming to Uttar Pradesh by train. The buses carry them further to their destinations.
Around 10,000 UPSRTC employees are working for transportation of migrant workers every day.
"It is of utmost importance that necessary precautionary measures like 100 per cent sanitization of all buses, masks and hand sanitizers to all drivers and conductors, gloves to conductors and sanitizers for passengers are ensured," Raj Shekhar said.
He further said that all the employees are screened daily by thermal guns when they report for duty.
The UPSRTC has procured and made available the stock of personal protection items for one-month period.
The MD has directed procurement of personal protection kits for three months.
Sources said that it has been decided to sanitize all buses every six hours when the transport system becomes functional.
The UPSRTC has also set up a control centre and nominated a nodal officer of general manager rank for monitoring and ensuring this at UPSRTC headquarters.
