Shamli: A drunk man killed his wife for not serving him salad, according to police in Uttar Pradesh. The couple's son was also injured in the attack on Monday in Gogwan Jalalpur village in Shamli district, police said.

Murli Singh attacked his wife Sudesh and his 20-year-old son Ajay with a spade while they were asleep.

On hearing their cries, the neighbours rushed to their house and Singh fled the scene.
Sudesh and Ajay were rushed to a private hospital in Shamli where the woman succumbed to her injuries during the treatment while her son is stable and currently under treatment.
Police have registered a case against Singh who is absconding. Teams have been found to nab him, Circle Officer Amit Saxena said.
The body of the woman has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation into the matter is underway.
