New Delhi: Emphasizing that Uttar Pradesh should be divided into three to four states to ensure effective governance, Pushpender Singh, president, Kisan Shakti Sangh has said the big size of the state is creating a number of problems for the successive governments and people of the state.
"Constitution maker B R Ambedkar was also of the view that Uttar Pradesh should be divided into three-four states for better governance," he said while talking to ETV Bharat here.
"Had Uttar Pradesh been a country, it would have been a 5th largest nation of the world," Singh said, adding that the state's large size has been a problem for its development.

He said Kisan Shakti Sangh along with other farmers' groups would continue to raise this issue and ask the central government to do the needful.
A smaller state is easier to govern. he said, adding that all issues could also be resolved easily as the government could focus on the problems faced by people.
The farmers' leader said that be it any government, all successive governments faced problems to develop the state properly and help resolve issues of the public simply because of its size.
"We will continue to raise this issue at every forum," Singh added.
