Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): People in Varanasi continue to struggle as heavy rains continue to pound the state over the past few days. The Chandauli MP, Mahendra Pandey was left stranded at his residence in Saraswati Nagar Colony area of the city as the house was submerged in the flood-water.
The local residents have claimed that municipal corporation has failed to restore proper drainage even after repeated requests.
"The colony faces the same situation every year after the incessant rainfall. This is the result of the incompetence of the Municipal Corporation of the city," said Bablu Pandey, a resident of the colony.
"The situation of water-logging is also due to the residents dumping plastics in the sewage. Hope the PM's campaign to make the country plastic-free helps in solving the problem," he added.
