Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh): The country is under complete lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. And while humans have been finding myriad ways to deal with the lockdown, stray animals might end up becoming an unforeseen casualty.
According to reports, thousands of stray animals in India depend on daily markets and locals who feed strays. But with coronavirus sending people into isolation and public establishments shutting down, strays may have a hard time finding food.
Keeping that in mind, A man is providing foods to monkeys who live around the Budhia Mai temple in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district.
Vinod, a resident of Pipraich block, turned out to be a messiah for the monkeys as he fed them grams and other food items.
As he began feeding the monkeys, tens of them from the nearby area started emerging and piling up on each other.
During the normal situation, these monkeys used to be fed by devotees who visited the temple but due to lock down the temple is closed these days.
It is to be noted that the Animal Welfare Board of India has also issued an advisory to all chief secretaries of states and Union Territories in India regarding caring for animals amid lockdown.
