Top UP govt officials meet Balrampur victim's family

UP Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avanish Awasthi and ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar met the family of the alleged gang-rape victim in Balrampur on Sunday. Speaking on the incident after meeting the family, ACS Home Awasthi said that they have assured the family that stringent action will be taken against the guilty.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh DGP HC Awasthi along with ADG Law & Order Prashant Kumar and Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Awasthi met the family of the 22-year-old woman who died after she was allegedly raped by two men in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district.

The officials visited the victim's house in Balrampur after being directed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Reportedly, the four accused of assaulting the woman from Balrampur have been arrested.

"The case will be tried in a fast-track court. If required, action will be taken under the National Security Act (NSA). So far 4 accused have been arrested till now," said UP Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Kumar Awasthi.

The victim, a second-year B. Com student, had gone to a college in a nearby town to pay her fees when she was attacked.
