UP girl uses string art to depict the slogan for global welfare in 18 languages, sets a record. Ritika earned the record for the thread pasted painting with a sentence written in most language.

Maharajganj (Uttar Pradesh): A visual arts student hailing from Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh wrote the slogan 'Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu' in 18 languages on 20 metres of cloth during COVID-19 lockdown, setting a world record.

According to reports, the student Ritika Singh scripted history as she noted down the slogan calling for world peace and welfare for all.

Ritika earned the record for the thread pasted paining with a sentence written in most language. The certificate was handed over to her by an institution called World Records India.

Ritika Singh, daughter of Radheshyam, resident of Forest Road near Farenda police station area, returned home before the imposition of lockdown, after completing Masters in Visual Arts.

She used 'raksha sutra' or the sacred thread usually associated with Hindu customs and beliefs to carve in the slogan 'May whole world live in happiness' in 18 languages including English, Bhojpuri, Urdu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi and Tamil.

Thread pasting or string art is a technique wherein colored threads are arranged to form geometric patterns, designs and letters.
