Workers killed in building crash in Varanasi

The building was part of the Kashi Vishwanathan temple complex and workers were sleeping outside it when they were hit by debris from the structure.

Varanasi: Two labourers were killed and more than six others were injured after a portion of an under-construction building collapsed at the Kashi Vishwanath temple complex in Varanasi, sources said.

The injured have been admitted to the Divisional Hospital.

Reports said, around 4 am a portion of the under-construction Goenka Hostel, which is part of the temple corridor, collapsed.

According to locals and temple administration, some labourers were sleeping in front of the building and were buried in the rubble.

The dead have been identified as Aminul Momin (45) and Aboul Momin (27). These labourers are residents of West Bengal. The administration has cited incessant rains as the reason for the accident.
