Prayagraj (Allahabad): The Allahabad HC on Monday denied bail to Gulshan, who has been accused of murdering his sister and brother-in-law along with other family members who had allegedly resorted to the cold-blooded murder. "Prima facie, it is a brazen case of honour killing where family members, including the deceased's father, uncle, cousin and her brother have all participated to put an end to a young life on account of a false sense of family pride, which they have prima facie sought to redeem through this crime," the Court observed, adding that those who kill in the name of false pride have no place in society.

The bench of Justice JJ Munir who was hearing the plea stated that Gulshan being an active participant in the entire incident, cannot be granted bail. To this, the applicant's lawyer argued that the applicant had only assaulted the witness Rohit Kumar and that role of shooting was taken up by a co-accused, but not the applicant. The girl's family were enraged over the fact that she married a man from another caste against their wishes and hence decided to eliminate her.
