Ghaziabad: As social distancing has become essential nowadays to contain the spread of coronavirus, special e-rickshaws with social distancing and sanitisation features will run on the streets of Ghaziabad very soon.
Vikas Deswal, the director of the e-rickshaw making company said, "around four people can sit in these special e-rickshaws while maintaining social distancing. It includes chambers to divide passengers and the driver seat."
"The old e-rickshaws can also be modified. It will cost Rs 8000," he further added.
E-rickshaw drivers said that they can not earn a livelihood with only two passengers. The special e-rickshaws will be very helpful for them to earn a livelihood.
Public transport services were also shut in Delhi for almost two months. After Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced relaxations in curbs, including reopening of public transport with social-distancing norms, during the fourth phase of the lockdown which has been extended till May 31, several buses, auto-rickshaws and taxis were seen plying the roads but with a limited number of passengers.
