SP MLA Nahid Hasan booked for 'provocative speech'

Samajwadi Party MLA has been booked for an alleged provocative speech he had delivered while calling for a 'jail bharo andolan' on November 2.

Shamli (Uttar Pradesh): The police in Uttar Pradesh's Shamili district has registered a case against Samajwadi Party MLA Nahid Hasan for allegedly delivering a provocative speech.

The Kairana MLA had allegedly delivered a provocative speech from the top of a car on November 2, as he called for a 'jail bharo andolan'.

Shamli Superintendent of Police (SP) Nityanand Rai said that videos of Hasan's speech had gone viral on social media, in which he was purportedly seen delivering a provocative speech.

The police have taken note of the video and have registered a case, the SP said.

According to reports, Hasan has been booked under section 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act.

Earlier last month, Hasan and his 40 supporters were booked for allegedly disrupting official work at a police station and violating coronavirus norms.

The police registered a case against the MLA and his 40 supporters for not maintaining social distancing and disrupting official work at the Kairana police station by creating a ruckus. The MLA had come to the police station in connection with a case.
