Ayodhya: Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has claimed that Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi and MP Shashi Tharoor are in the race to accompany P Chidambaram at Tihar Jail.
Addressing media at Ayodhya, Subramanian Swamy said, "At this time Sonia Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor are in the race to accompany Chidambaram at jail first."
Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy arrived in Ayodhya on Saturday on a two-day visit.
Chidambaram is facing probe in cases registered by the CBI and the ED pertaining to alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance given to INX Media to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when he was the Union finance minister.
The Congress and a host of its leaders have backed P Chidambaram, who has been remanded in a money laundering case related to INX Media, with Rahul Gandhi accusing the government of using probe agencies and the media to "character assassinate" the former finance minister.
