Son locks up elderly mother in UP over COVID-19 fears

According to reports, the elderly woman's husband died of Covid-19 recently. When the woman, who lives with her son, entered the house after the last rites of her husband, she was locked inside a room by Rakesh Aggarwal, her only son. Later, Rakesh including his wife and children left the house without anyone's knowledge.

Agra: An elderly woman at Kamla Nagar in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district was not allowed to meet anyone of her family and was locked inside a roo by her son, who feared that she was coronavirus positive.

According to reports, the elderly woman's husband died of Covid-19 recently. When the woman, who lives with her son, entered the house after the last rites of her husband, she was locked inside a room by Rakesh Aggarwal, her only son. Later, Rakesh including his wife and children left the house without anyone's knowledge.

After learning about the matter, the woman's grandson, Anup Garg reached the house and with the help of neighbours broke the door, rescued his grandmother and informed police about the same.

On being asked about the incident, the elderly woman made serious allegations against her son. The woman said that her son behaves very rudely to her and due to negligence of treatment, her husband died.

Though she was also not facing any health issues, her son locked her inside a room and left the house without informing her. As she did not have food since locked inside, locals provided her with food and water after opening the house.
