Section 144 imposed in Ayodhya till December 17

As the Ayodhya has a cultural significance, the district administration here has decided to impose Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which prohibits assembly of five or more people at a time. The prohibition order will be applicable till December 17 in the district.

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which prohibits assembly of five or more people at a time, has been imposed in Ayodhya in order to maintain harmony during the festive season.

The prohibition order will be applicable till December 17 in the district.

According to the District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha, UP Chief Minister would join the 'Deepotsav' and also some major examination will be conducted between the festivals.

"On November 13, the main event will be held at several places including Ramkatha Park, Ramki Paidi, Nayaghat, Saryu Aarti. In the program organized at Ramkatha Park, the Chief Guest will perform the coronation ceremony of Shri Ram, Sita Maa, Laxman Ji. During this, there will be a 'Pushpavarsha' from the helicopter. After the evening Saryu Aarti, Ramlila has been scheduled to be organized at the Bhajan Sandhya venue and the lamp lighting at the Ram ki Paidi will be decorated" said DM.

"As the district has a cultural significance, the district administration has decided to impose a restriction to maintain law and order situation in the district", said Jha to ETV Bharat.

"There is a restriction on pandals and big idols. However, small idols that can be carried in cars, autos, etc are allowed. Processions will not be allowed", added District Magistrate.
