Agra: A policeman was seriously injured in Abhaypura village here as people involved in illegal sand mining tried to crush him with their tractor-trolley when he tried to stop them.
The incident took place on the intervening night of July 14 and 15 under Achhnera police station area, police said. People associated with the sand mining mafia were taking away sand illegally in their tractor-trolley and as they were challenged by two policemen - Raghvendra and Dharmendra - the mafia men tried to escape.The policemen, who were on a motorbike, chased them but they were hit by the tractor-trolley and policeman Raghvendra got seriously injured.
The sand mafia men ran away leaving behind their tractor-trolly. The police have seized the tractor-trolly and are searching for the culprits.
