Etah (Uttar Pradesh): In what could be a possible re-run of the 'Anamika Shukla' scam, the salary payments of a teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district have been blocked by authorities on the suspicion of fraud.
According to reports, the officials have been scrutinising the details of all teachers employed in the state following the 'Anamika Shukla' scam. While the process was being undertaken in Etah district, it came to light that salaries were being simultaneously drawn from the same PAN card number in both Etah and Auraiya districts.
Etah basic shiksha adhikari (BSA) Sanjay Kumar said that Meena Devi, a teacher at the Kunwar Pal primary school in the district, and another teacher in Auraiya were drawing their salaries from the same PAN card.
"When the matter came to light, we collected all her documents for scrutiny. Prima facie, the matter seems suspicious. Hence, we have issued a notice to the teacher and blocked her salary till the investigation is completed," Kumar said.
"Based on the investigations, we will take necessary action. If it is indeed an instance of fraud, the teacher will be dismissed," he added.
Till now, multiple arrests have been made in the 'Anamika Shukla' scam, which involved teachers being recruited in state government schools on the basis of educational certificates of one woman -- Anamika Shukla.
