Haridwar: Supporting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's proposal to rename Hyderabad as 'Bhagyanagar', Yog Guru Baba Ramdev has said that "Hyder (Ali) had nothing to do with Hyderabad, hence it should be renamed".

Ramdev all for renaming Hyderabad

"Bhagyanagar is an ancient and historic name of Hyderabad and the name of the city should be changed as Hyder (Ali) (Muslim ruler of Mysore princely state) had nothing to do with the city," he told media persons.

He said mistakes were made in the past and they were to be corrected. Mughals and English rulers changed the names of our cities and shrines and we must correct it.

Addressing an election rally in Hyderabad a few days ago, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister made the announcement that the BJP would rename Hyderabad if it wins the civic polls.

"Some people were asking me if Hyderabad can be renamed as Bhagyanagar. I said - why not. I told them that we renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya and Allahabad as Prayagraj after BJP came into power in UP. Then why Hyderabad can't be renamed as Bhagyanagar," he was quoted by media as saying.

The Yog Guru further said that people should take all possible precautions to remain healthy as coronavirus does not have any cure.

"...even if a vaccine comes, it would help you guard against getting infected but in case one is already infected, it would not be able to save him," he said, adding that people should boost their immunity by using Ayurvedic remedies.
