Sikar (Rajasthan): A jawan, Deep Chand Verma, who was martyred after terrorists fired on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party from a Masjid in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore on Wednesday morning, hailed from Rajasthan's Sikar district.
Soon after the name of the brave soldier was released by the Indian Army, the ancestral village of the soldier saluted the bravery of the martyred warrior.

The 39-year-old Verma had joined the CRPF on March 4, 2003, and was posted as head-constable in Jammu and Kashmir for the last one year. He had married in 2004. The slain head constable is survived by his wife and three children.
According to the CRPF, at around 7:30 am on Wednesday, 179 Battalion of CRPF reached Model Town Chowk Sopore for patrolling duties. As the troops were de-bussing from the vehicles to occupy their respective spots of deployment, terrorists hiding in the attic of a nearby mosque started firing indiscriminately on the troops, in which CRPF jawans constable Bhoya Rajesh, Head Constable Deep Chand Verma, Nilesh Chawde and Constable Deepak Patil got injured.
Later Deep Chand succumbed to his injuries.
