Lucknow: UP Congress in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is scheduled to hold a meeting of the State Screening Committee in Lucknow on Monday to discuss poll strategy and planning for upcoming polls. The meeting will be attended by Deepender Hooda and Varsha Gaikwad, the two members of the Screening Committee were appointed by interim President Sonia Gandhi.
The party leaders will also discuss the selection process of the candidates at the Congress headquarters in the presence of State Election Committee President Jitendra Singh who will reach Lucknow on Monday morning. The Screening Committee will also visit various divisions of Uttar Pradesh to take feedback from the lower level office bearers who are vying for their candidature.
Sources said that party will also release its first list of candidates for the UP Assembly polls as soon as Priyanka Gandhi gives her nod. It is speculated that the party may release the list this week.
Meanwhile, the party leaders will also sit on a hunger strike from 10 am to 1 pm at Raj Bhavan demanding the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri clash which claimed the lives of eight people including four farmers and one journalist.
