Mathura (Uttar Pradesh): Animal activist Sudevi Mataji of Uttar Pradesh has sought police help over death threats from land grabbers, reports said. Mataji, a German woman, whose real name is Friederike Irina Bruning has been receiving threats to give up her 'gaushala' land in Mathura.
On Monday, she reached the SSP's office and pleaded for justice. She also said that some people in the village vandalised the cowshed.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kamal Kishor said that Mataji has filed a complaint. He added that some people of the village want her to vacate the land. The concerned authorities will now investigate the matter and action will be taken against the accused, he said.
For the last 30 years, Mataji has been running a 'Gaushala' in Radha Kund under the Govardhan police station area of Mathura district. The cow care centre takes care of stray cows, provides treatment and fodder. The centre is developed on three acres of land. Mataji was honored with the Padma Shri award in 2019 for her service to the animals.
