Lucknow: The third privately operated train of IRCTC, Kashi Mahakal Express, which begun its commercial run on Thursday has served only vegetarian food to the passengers.
Chief Regional Manager of IRCTC Ashwini Srivastava has said, "Meanwhile, we have decided to serve veg food in the train however, we will consider the demand for non-veg food from the passenger in the future."
Earlier, IRCTC faced criticism for reserving a seat for Lord Shiva on board which was later removed by clarifying that it was a “one-time affair” to seek “blessings” for the success of the new project.
IRCTC may start serving non-veg food also as per the demands as the train will not only have devotees who will go to Varanasi and Ujjain as its passengers but it will also carry passengers from all religions and caste.
The new Kashi Mahakal Express which was inaugurated on Feb 16 by PM Modi, will run between Varanasi to Indore and it will connect three places -- Jyotirlinga-Omkareshwar (near Indore), Mahakaleshwar (Ujjain) and Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi).
